Representatives of the Arizona Coalition for Military Families (ACMF) and the Arizona Department of Veterans’ Services (ADVS) have been named to the newly established Governor’s Office of Faith and Community Partnerships. The Executive Order was signed by Governor Brewer in August 2014 and the Council was seated in November. This Council replaces the ArizonaSERVES Task Force. Nicola Winkel, ACMF Program Consultant/Community Liaison previously served on the Task Force and now represents the Coalition on the new Council. Sean Price, Veterans Program Administrator, represents ADVS on the Council.

Faith-based communities and organizations can have an important role in supporting Arizona’s service members, veterans and their families and connecting them to the array of available military, government and community resources. A set of sector-specific Guidelines for CARE have been developed to help faith-based organizations with training and equipping their communities to respond to the needs of the military, veteran and family population.
